The Sierra Leone Police have opened a formal probe into the theft of a CCTV camera in Makeni, highlighting rising concerns over the safety of public surveillance infrastructure.
Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Dr. John Martin Senesie, Director of Operations, confirmed the incident and assured the public that the matter is being handled with the highest level of seriousness.
He revealed that the Regional Commander has been instructed to lead a thorough investigation, while the head of the ICT Department in Freetown has been directed to audit control room operations to identify any lapses and gather intelligence that could support the inquiry. “This incident did not occur by chance,” Dr. Senesie stated firmly, underscoring the police’s determination to uncover the facts and bring those responsible to justice.
