His Excellency President Dr. Julius Maada Bio will today officially unveil three major agricultural programmes in the Kambia District, marking a key step forward in Sierra Leone’s pursuit of food self-sufficiency and agricultural transformation.
The occasion will include the presentation of the 2nd Year Progress Report of the Feed Salone Initiative, the formal launch of the new Rural Farm Radio 98.9 FM, and the commissioning of a $150 million Livestock Development Project.
These landmark initiatives underscore the government’s continued dedication to modernizing agriculture, improving rural livelihoods, and strengthening national food security.
Launched by President Bio in 2023, the Feed Salone Initiative serves as the government’s flagship programme for driving local food production, cutting down import dependence, and empowering farmers with better access to inputs, markets, and modern technologies. The second-year report is expected to showcase notable advancements in agricultural mechanization, seed supply, irrigation development, and youth participation in farming.
