The President of the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA), Babadi Kamara, on Sunday, October 5, held a strategic meeting with FIFA President Gianni Infantino in Kinshasa, ahead of the 47th CAF General Assembly slated for Monday, October 6, in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
During the meeting, President Kamara outlined his administration’s major priorities, including fast-tracking infrastructure projects under the FIFA Forward Programme, constructing a modern SLFA headquarters, and advancing the FIFA Arena Project aimed at building community and school mini-pitches nationwide.
He also underscored the ongoing partnership with the Government of Sierra Leone on the “Football for Schools” initiative, which supports President Julius Maada Bio’s earlier commitment to FIFA during his engagement with Infantino in New York. Kamara further expressed his administration’s determination to establish a modern football framework rooted in integrity, transparency, and sound governance.
In his remarks, FIFA President Gianni Infantino pledged FIFA’s continued support to Kamara and his executive team, applauding the SLFA President’s dedication and hands-on contribution to football development.
“You are a key figure in global football today not by chance, but because of the transformation you’ve brought to the game,” Infantino stated. “As someone who has personally contributed to football’s growth, you have our full backing to succeed as President of the Sierra Leone Football Association—and that’s exactly what we’ll ensure.”
The meeting was also attended by FIFA General Secretary Mattias Grafström, FIFA Deputy Chief Member Association Officer Gelson Fernandes, SLFA Vice President I Ali Badara Tarawallie, and SLFA Acting General Secretary Mohamed Benson Bawoh.
